FTEA (Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement)

Are you a teacher of mathematics, science or social studies, English, or these same subjects for children with disabilities? Do you have at least 3 years of professional experience after graduation? Do you want to improve your teaching skills and learn about life in the USA? Then the six-week teacher training program is just for you. During this program, you will be able to take part in a variety of teaching methods and new teaching methods, work with American teachers and students during a two-week internship at the school, and see the sights of the United States.

The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (FTEA) Program provides international teachers with unique opportunities to develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States. FTEA consists of a six-week non-degree, non-credit customized academic program including seminars on new teaching methodologies, curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional technology. Participants will also take part in a practicum in a U.S. secondary school near their host university to work closely with U.S. teachers and teach and present to U.S. students. Cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be provided throughout the program. The international participants will travel to the United States in two cohorts of approximately 80 teachers each in the spring or fall. Upon returning home, TEA program alumni are eligible to apply for small grants for essential teaching materials, follow-on training for other teachers, collaborative projects between schools in their home country and the United States, and other activities that build on their U.S. experience.

Program duration – 6 weeks.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Current secondary-level, full-time teachers with three or more years of classroom experience in English, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Math, Science, Social Studies,; school administrators (directors and deputy directors) should teach at least fifty percent of their time.
  • Working in schools, language centers and after-school centers;
  • Special Education teachers working in state and private schools;
  • Citizens of and residents in Russian Federation;
  • Proficient in written and spoken English with a minimum score of 450 on the paper-based TOEFL or 45 on the ibT TOEFL.
